Begin on an unforgettable day trip to Mafia Island, a hidden gem off the coast of Tanzania. Your journey begins with an early morning hotel pickup in Zanzibar, followed by a scenic flight to Mafia Island. Upon arrival, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to the excursion base for a short briefing before setting off on a thrilling boat tour in search of majestic whale sharks.
After an incredible whale shark experience, enjoy a delicious local lunch at the excursion base before heading to a nearby site to observe the fascinating flying foxes. If time permits, explore Kilindoni City with a brief sightseeing tour before transferring back to the airport for your return flight to Zanzibar. Upon landing, your driver will be ready to take you back to your hotel, marking the end of this extraordinary adventure.
- Pick up from your hotel in Zanzibar between 4am to 5am depending on the location of your accommodation for the morning flight (between 6am to 7am) direct to Mafia Island (taking approx. 50 minutes). - Upon arrival at the Island, you will be met & greeted by our team and transfer to the excursion base (meeting point) for briefing and then board on our local boat heading to search for the whale sharks. - After the above tour, back to the excursion base (Whale shark base) for local lunch, then you will be guided to see the flying foxes at the nearest place, afterwards transfer to Kilindoni City for sight-seeing if time permits. - After the above tours, drive you to the airport for your flight back to Zanzibar where your drivers will be waiting for you to transfer back to your respective hotels.
